SAVE OUR PLANET

Our planet is precious and there are many small changes we can be making in our lives to make some kind of an impact.

No one person will be able to single handedly save our planet and while we are making changes to our packaging and the way we do business, we still have a long way to go. In NSW we now have a state wide ban on single use plastic in business which is amazing and has pushed many businesses of all sizes to make a shift towards sustainability.

We are working on sourcing recyclable and compostable packaging by 2021, have started a garden to grow our own herbs and are working on installing a community composting station at our store garden.

Bellow we have provided some information about how you can get involved in the sustainability movement. Whether you make one change or multiple, the earth will thank you for your efforts.

Reusable Coffee Cup

Get yourself a reusable coffee mug

This one is pretty straight forward and something you can do with little effort. Invest in a reusable coffee mug and bring it with you when you're going to Starbucks or your local coffee shop. They can make your coffees in your own mug and save on single use products. It's not an inconvenience and it doesn't make you a pain in the arse... it's eco-minded and frankly, it saves money for them.

Use metal straws

Let's be real, no one likes the taste of cardboard...

Instead of having to put up with paper straws and cardboard cutlery every time you go out, just bring some reusable ones for yourself in your handbag. Better for the planet, better for your sanity.

Zero Waste Kitchen

Bring a mesh bag from home

Mesh produce bags are brilliant because you can put lots of items in one bag and retailers can still see everything you have picked up. They can put the malleable mesh bag of vegetables on the scale, determine a total and you can be on your way.

The mesh retains the same functional benefits, it is built to last and the environment will thank you for your sustainable choice.

Start Composting

Did you know that 28% of what the average person considers waste can actually be composted? If your local council hasn't already implemented a green bin system with a bench top compost bin then composting for yourself is a great eco-minded change! For a beginners guide to composting click here.

Get Involved

You can do this in many ways, but volunteering with a group or by yourself cleaning up the earth, collecting the rubbish others throw around or that washes up in water ways is a great way to make an immediate impact. If you're not quite ready for hands on action, there are many groups that rely on community funding to keep going. Have a look around for groups you connect with and give them a donation!
